Veterans4SDGs is a community outreach project of the ©Centre for Sustainable Action a UK Cooperative, and ©SDG Assessment, serving members of HM Armed Forces, Veterans community to support the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and net zero emission targets
Our project aims to create a community of veterans and businesses dedicated to measuring, reporting and verifying sustainability performance towards a circular economy that preserves our environment and prosperity for future generations.
Small businesses that comprise 98% of businesses are disproportionately impacted by global megaforces such as climate change.
Despite this ⅔ of businesses have no plan for sustainability,
1 in 5 businesses have no understanding of net zero emissions
Carbon footprint is a mystery to 9 out of 10 small businesses.
There are currently approximately 340,000 veteran-owned small businesses in the UK.
We are at half-time... Global society is on track to achieve only 15% of UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Specifically Climate Change - the ultimate threat multiplier exacerbates negative impacts e.g. poverty, poor health and wellbeing, rising energy and fuel prices, coastal erosion and rising sea levels.
Veterans face various challenges when starting and running a small business, including lack of knowledge, financing challenges, lack of resources, and lack of awareness of available support.
By joining our project, Veteran owned businesses can gain access to a community, increase their chances of accessing sustainable financing, green funding and reduce their costs. Also resources to support them to cut their carbon emissions by 28% annually.
